McCall Fashions, February, 1945

If there’s one thing I inherited from my mother (and there’s many), it’s a love of classic fashion. While I was rummaging for Edwardian clothing, my mom was looking for, especially, 1940s suits to dress like classic Hollywood. She didn’t name me Lauren for nothing! Lauren Baccall was my namesake, due to her love of classic film.

My cousin found a box full of (quite stinky) antique magazines my mom had collected when clearing out my grandmother and aunt’s house. Mom, ever the packrat, started packratting at my house, her mom’s house, any place that could shove in a few more antiquing finds or decor standbys. I tell you, the apple didn’t fall far from the tree. And although I can’t handle these because of my mold allergy, I made sure to wear my mask and wash my hands thoroughly so I could have some record of my mom’s love of old things.

So I hope you’ll enjoy these inherited goodies.

These fashion pages from from McCall Magazine from February, 1945 and can be fun for dating your antique patterns or fashions you may find.

McCall 5951, 5952, 5963, 5995 from 1945
McCall 5992, 5966, 5991, 5990, 5989 from 1945.

So thanks, mom! I know you’d get a kick out of sharing these with other old fashion lovers!
