Halloween Food from 1900

This lovely menu was presented in the November, 1900 issue of the Ladies Home Journal. Odd that it was in November instead of October, but perhaps the ladies received their issues at the end of the month, so it could be perfect timing for Halloween! This is fun food from the end of the Victorian era (The Edwardian era started when King Edward came to the throne in 1901). This would be so would be fun to recreate for a party.

I just love when it’s written out Hallowe’en in old period publications. I think that apostrophe needs to make a come back.

This food all actually sounds pretty good! I’m not a fan of oysters, but the cakes and chicken salad, and the fun donuts (doughnuts) sound yummy!
