>This picture pretty much sums up my day.  Cutting and cutting and some sewing and some cutting.

Cork boards under fabric win.  I cut all layers at once, and even with chiffon it didn’t make me want to tear my hair out (too much).
Hope you all had a great weekend!

    >I'd love a little more elaboration on the cork board cutting technique – I live in an area where it's hard to replace sewing supplies, so don't want to attempt it improperly. I just had a ton of tulles, satins, and chiffons sent out to me (Okinawa) to satisfy a little princess's Christmas wishes, so an easier way to cut my tricky, slippery fabrics would be so appreciated. Also, I am such a fan of your blog, though I rarely comment. I really enjoy seeing all of the catalog posts; I make retro-styled kids clothes, and pull a lot of detail inspiration from your pictures.

    >Thanks, gals! I'm a wedding dress for one of my best friends as her gift, so hopefully I'll get pics from her so I can share after the wedding :)Birdie, so glad you like the catalog pictures! I'll have to share some kids pages in the future :)The top of the table is particle board and I had three cork boards with frames that I wasn't using so I removed the frames and nailed them all next to each other on the table top, then covered with a vintage table cloth and used a staple gun to secure it to the table. Eventually I want to cover the edge with eyelet and maybe a red ribbon running through… that would be cute :)Hope that helps! Fancy fabrics are so pretty but they're so fussy sometimes! I lined all the selvages up with the table edge, also, to keep them on grain.

    >That cork table is an excellent idea. I have no space to have a table cork but might get a cork board and a DIY store and see if I could use it for smaller pieces. Thank you!

    >Wow, what an amazing idea. Thanks so much for sharing. I think they even sell cork in a roll so one could hypothetically buy a roll and just roll it out on a pre-existing cutting table as needed. Hmm. . . must research immediately. Thanks!!

    >Oh, I'm so envious! I can't wait until I have space to have a proper cutting table with a cork top. In a lot of places you can buy cork tiles very cheaply, and those work great for the top of sewing tables.
