>Play and Sports Togs- 1939

>Summer’s a comin’!  I just got a new old catalog in the mail the other day from 1939 and I’m tickled pink by all the fun playclothes that are in the pages.  Aren’t these too divine?  I’ve been noticing a fad in ’38 and ’39 to have appliques of all sorts of novelty motifs on mostly house dresses and playclothes but every once in a while on day dresses as well.  Isn’t  it wildly fun?  I love the snake charmer and desert scene on the high waist trousers.  I think I might need to make myself a set of those!  I really could wish for one of everything- this is vintage I could sink my teeth into and wear every day without a thought!  And the hair- curl it if you wish, or just pull it back and throw a kerchief on, or pull it up in a back twist or a snood and just do a little roll in the front!

    >I saw the thumbnail version of that picture above on my reading list and thought it a poster for a Deanna Durbin film I missed.Durbin would wear lots of highwaisted outfits with bolero jackets in the 1930s.What fun to have that catalog.

    >Hi! I was wondering if I could use a photo of you in a blog post – inspiration in an outfit post. Hopefully it's more on the side of flattering as opposed to creepy/single white female. (It's from an event – with the brown plaid blouse?). Of course I'd link to your blog but I thought I should ask first?-Andi xPS I hope this makes sense – it's been a super long day today!
