>Memory of a Summer Past

>I’m tying/photo shopping the instructions for the second pattern in my line that I posted yesterday. I can’t image being a beginning sewer working with vintage perforated patterns. Yesterday I took my handy dandy clear ruler and drew in all the lines, and now it looks feasible and not overwhelming.
I bought my first vintage patterns when I was 17, the Summer of my high school graduation, when my dad, my ex-boyfriend, and my step mom went across the country in a racing truck- from San Diego to Missouri, then a side detour to Illinois for a race and family reunion. We were going through all sorts of crazy mountains in that truck loaded up with karts and tools, and my patient dad let me troll through all the antique stores I could spot. I loaded up on vintage clothing and antiques (including the blouse I wore to the ticket to the twenties event last weekend… I guess I was younger than I thought when I bought it!). 20s necklaces, vintage whites, fur coats, Victorian men’s clothing- for max about $20. I still remember it like it was yesterday, even though it was 12 years ago. In a cute antique store in Colorado I found a little basket hidden with late teens/early 20s patterns. I think they were ten dollars each, and buying three was my big trip splurge. Unfortunately, I don’t have the originals anymore- but I have some hard copies on manila, but no instructions. I held onto them for years, not even opening them. When I graduated from fashion school I finally went to open them- and that’s when I transferred them to manila. When I opened them I was so disappointed because I thought they were flawed! There were only holes! Someone didn’t print on them, how sad! And that was my first introduction to perforated patterns. Hehe.Me in one of my Victorian dresses, around the same year as the trip.

    >I made my first vintage pattern at the start of the year, and now what you mean about having no markings! It was incredibly scary, but once you've got it down it was fine :)

    >Hi, I just discovered your lovely blog. In the last pic, you look just like a Victorian painting.
