>Clothes in the Shops, 1940

>Hope everyone had a fabulous weekend! My husband and I spent some good time together and I’m puttering away here still on Christmas gifts.
Thought this article from 1940 might make you inspired for your winter wardrobe.  Aren’t these outfits beyond fun? Some day, I swear, there will be a vintage snow party with people in silly suits a la Petting in the Park, and hopefully it will be just about as warm as a Hollywood set, cause this California girl’s toes get mighty frigid in the wink of an eye!  I think I’d take just about everything on this page.  How about you?  Anything strike your fancy?  Anything you wouldn’t be caught dead in?

    >I'm going to chime in with the other comment and say that the striped hostess gown is catching my fancy! I love the way the stripe and solids are pieced; especially through the midriff (lately, it seems a lot of things I've been drawn to have some sort of midriff detail. lol). Fantastic! Thanks for sharing these, Lauren!♥ Caseyblog | elegantmusings.com

    >I really love the tailored satin jacket with full flowing skirt combination. I'd make the jacket out of heavy monotone silk brocade and the skirt with layers and layers of silk charmeuse. That little girl ninja suit on the far left though…

    >Lovely post – and the Red jacket with chiffon skirt would be the best choice for me – although the stripy 'negligee' is tempting :)Thanks for all you do here to share such goodness with us!

    >Oh what a treat. I would certainly wear all of them. There's something really special but simple about the lines of many 40's looks. I can't quite put my finger on it.
