1914- Pre-Printed Fabric Blouses to Embroider

From a 1914 “Artikraft” needlework catalog I have, comes this lovely page of blouses.

Did you know that you could order blouse embroidery stamped on fabric? All of these designs could be ordered stamped on batiste, lawn, crepe, or linene (faux linen or a linen blend). The home sewer would then embroider the designs and sew up the blouse.

This continued through the early 1930s, with some companies even having kits that included colorful fabrics and all the embroidery thread needed.

These particular blouses are perfect for 1914. I love that number 2441 even shows it with a fashionable skirt with buttons!

Wouldn’t it be lovely to get embroidered kits for clothing today, in pre-printed motifs to embroider pretty fabrics?
