This article about kitchen cabinets comes out of a Modern Priscilla magazine from 1928. It’s interesting to note, strictly from a historical perspective, that the article mentions pantries as somewhat old-fashioned. The 1920s seems to streamline that idea down into the kitchen cabinet!
We call these “Hoosier Cabinets” now, but Hoosier was actually a maker of the cabinets. It’s kind of how we say “Kleenex” for tissues, or “Hoover” for vacuum.
Love the fun paint on these ones! Put pretty please don’t paint the pretty oak cabinets you find. If they were originally painted, totally re-do it. But I’ve seen many a kitchen cabinet ruined by a new paint-job when they old one would have had lovely wood!
