You may be familiar with Lauren from Lady of Portland House. About a month ago I had the pleasure of meeting my long time online friend in person for the first time. When two costuming Lauren’s meet in person, fun is bound to happen!
We had planned on going to the Jane Austen Evening dance in Pasadena when we had originally planned our visit, but, as is common, it sold out FAST. Not to be discouraged, we decided to opt for something more low key, so our visit was full of fabric shopping, eating lots of good food, and instead of Jane Austen Evening we went up for the day to Oak Glen and Yucaipa for playing dress up and antiquing.
Riley’s Farm has several little sections made to look like they were from different historical eras, including the Old West and American Revolutionary War eras. The grounds were nearly empty, and we took our time wandering around and exploring. And, of course, we stopped in for apple pie at the Hawk’s Head Inn. Because if you go to Oak Glen you have to have something with apples in it. It’s a rule.
Lauren is not only the Queen of the 1790s, she’s also the Horse Whisper. I’m not kidding, she made friends FAST. It was awesome.
This horse couldn’t get enough of the Lady of Portland House. Look at her making faces, waiting for more attention! I, obviously, thought it was hilarious ;)
Note to self: Next time you go to Oak Glen in January make a red cape. Isn’t her cape fabulous?
I can’t wait for us to play again in person. You know when you meet someone and you instantly click like you’ve been “real life” friends for ages? That’s what it was like with Lauren. It makes me thankful for the internet, and all of the now “real life” friends I’ve met over the years. <3
