French Dames in Boudoir and en Fete- 1912

Hello!  I hope you had a lovely weekend.  We had a lovely time at a ragtime era dance on Sunday, but I’ll be posting more of that later!

For inspiration today, here’s an article from the same magazine I posted a few entries ago, the August 1912 issue of McCall’s.  This article has some lovely clothing inspiration in this article called “French Dames in Boudoir and en Fete.”

I’ll take No. 2, please!

My favorite part of the article has to be the last paragraph:

“Many American women have an idea that French fashions are very extreme and must be greatly modified before they are suited to the more sober transatlantic taste.  This is all a mistake.  Of course you do see horridly extreme things over here but they are worn by the same class of women who flaunt the exaggerated styles on the streets the world over.  The real French woman, with her naive refinement and chic taste, understands the art to perfection, of adapting her dress to her own personality…”
