New Pattern Release! The 1930s Blanket Coat

I’m excited to announce the newest pattern is finished and now available for purchase

This pattern was based on an original pattern from around 1937 for a coat that could be made from yardage or blankets, like the famous striped blanket coats.

I made up this coat for myself from Pendleton blanket wool and I have been wearing my coat all over town with all different slacks and sweaters and blouses.  It pairs very well with the Smooth Sailing trousers and is the perfect solution of how to keep warm with your casual vintage sportswear.

Later Note:  When this pattern originally came out many friends would make an annual trip to Yosemite to a vintage event.  I thought this coat would be perfect for the national park and named it after the historical Ahwahnee Hotel, where the event would take place (hotel since renamed).  I later came to realize this name not only was a hotel, but that the town and the hotel were named for the Ahwahneechee native peoples who lived in the area.  My ignorance in choosing the original name was a bad choice and should not have been done.  The coat has since been renamed the “1930s Blanket Coat.”

    >It's perfect! I've been digging on those wide 30's hoods lately. I also like the saddle shoulder. This pattern could look sporty or elegant, depending on how it's made up.

    >This is the perfect coat for casual wear. It's hard to find something that's not too dressy but also not fleece (though it could be dressy with the right fabric). This could be the perfect solution…Another one to add to my list.
