>First Rainy Day of Autumn!

>Ah! Rain! It was thundering and lightening and raining this morning and afternoon and I was in HEAVEN.  We don’t get much rain here, so every time it rains I get in an utterly romantic and artistic mood!  Despite my cravings for closeting myself up and playing with wools and listening to the Amelie soundtrack, I had to get a lot of shipping and business stuff done today, but I did let out my inner francophile with a nautical French look.

The jacket is vintage from the 1940s- it actually was a trade from a lovely friend who has since moved to Spain.  I think it was meant to be- the inside is embroidered with what were my pre-marriage initials!
The pants, of course, are my worn to death pair of the Smooth Sailing trousers.  They’ve become my wardrobe staple!  I really need to make up another pair for myself.
The blouse is a short sleeve sweater purchased last summer from Charlotte Russe, a teenage chain clothing store.
The shoes are vintage, from a friend
The hat actually was my mom’s from the 1970s! It’s got a few moth nips, but it’s my favorite rainy weather hat.

Since a couple of you asked for pics of my hair when it’s not styled, here’s a front and back shot.  Excuse the stupid face… I think I was mid-sentance, but the pic shows it better than the others I snapped :)

My recent project was trying to finish up a project I cut out probably over a month ago now.  I’m afraid my little playsuit will probably be put off until next year if this weather holds out.  I just can’t sew for myself unless I am in the mood- but I did get through almost all of my unfinished projects in the last few weeks so I don’t feel nearly so bad putting this on hold until warmer weather.  With how our weather’s been going it could just be a few days from now…  but here’s a sneak of it anyways.  It’s vintage feedsack fabric with wild American Indian buttons that are the perfect shade!

Tomorrow’s my birthday so I am taking tomorrow and the weekend off.  See y’all back online next week! Hope you have a great weekend!

    >I love your Parisian chic look! The pants look great. I really must get that pattern and make myself a pair some time! Thanks for the taste of the play suit. The print is so cute and I love the rick rack!

    >Oh my gosh your outfit is inspiring. The dress in the background is beautiful, are you going to offer a pattern for it, or sell the dress on your site? Please, please, I love it.

    >Happy birthday! Welcome to the 30s — I've actually enjoyed my 30s, so far, more than I did my 20s, and I hope you do, too! By the way, your French rainy-day outfit is great; so chic and comfy-looking!
