Secondly, I wanted to address what I’ve been asked a few times in my blog about custom sewing. I do custom sewing, but prefer to do fittings in person. The point of this post is that I finished a dress I’m quite proud of! I’ve been really inspired by the 1920’s lately, and there’s an event my husband and I are planning on going to next month so I needed a suitable outfit. First came the jacket, from a German pattern from 1930- I made it initially for the beach pajamas I just finished of the same linen. I had a little left over, so I thought I’d make a 20s dress for the event next month, but I didn’t have enough to do more than a skirt and some trim. I came across a pattern in my stash from 1928 that I’ve been wanting to make for a long time, and I think this worked perfectly! The yellow was made into the pleated skirt and bias strips for trim, and forms sort of a deco thunderbolt across the cut of the dress. The white linen was from Joann from their line last spring and summer, which I invested in when they were having a 60% off sale. I think the ones from this year are on sale right now, but I held myself back when we were last there! Enough babbling… here’s dress and jacket pictures!
