>Late 30s Two Piece Dress

>Finished! This was a project for the orange wool from Joann’s.
The rare sewing table piccie. I should take more of these.

I was very fortunate in this project to have the March 1937 Simplicity pattern pamphlet which told me the year of my pattern!

Simplicity 2330- description says:

Thread marking for pocket and button placement

Mr Charles helping me iron. “Why is the fabric stuck on the floor?” Looks inside and there’s a kitty ball asleep.

Finished suit. I actually used a different skirt pattern and resized it and cut it on the bias (never adapted a pattern to do that before, and it actually worked!). I love the look of the 30’s with the play on patterns, so this is one of my first attempts at it :) And I hand sewed on the pockets with black embroidery floss for accent, since they’re not really going to be used. The buttons were covered and the belt made with black rayon satin, and the buckle is vintage. I descided against using the buttons I ordered and will save them for another project I have in my head. It actually looks a lot less costume-y on a body and in person, but you get the idea.
