1916- Fashions for Warm Days: What she will Need Most for the Country and Seashore

Today I have a lovely image I cleaned up to share from a vintage 1916 Ladies Home Journal magazine.  This is from the July issue, exactly 99 years ago.

I hope you enjoy!  I included close ups of all the images, since it’s often hard to read the big sheets on a screen.

I’m especially loving the shoes!  We tend to not think of all the amazing sporting shoes available in the 19-teens.  I’d gladly wear those today!

I love the styles of this era. That polkadot skirted outfit is so elegant. Who would have thought that the sneakers of yesteryear would look as sharp as our office shoes today? Oh, how I wish we could go back to that standard of footwear. So lovely!

    Love the “stiffly stand-offish” swimsuit! How different from today’s styles . . . .
And the hip-yoked skirt for the large-hipped. I have some off-white cotton duck that’s been waiting for a pattern like that.

Love the shoes–I’ll take the set in white buckskin trimmed in black patent leather, and I’m willing to keep them spotlessly clean if they are sent in the next post.
