Swimsuits, 1946

Ahh! Summer!

Here’s some divine swimsuits as pictured originally in the 1946 Montgomery Ward’s Spring and Summer catalog. It’s hard to choose a favorite!

Happy 4th!

Ahh Lauren! I was looking at this catalog on eBay the same time you were. You beat me to the click by 30 seconds! It couldn’t have gone to a better person!

Aww! I’ve had this one for about 5 years. But I’m sorry you missed out on it! Glad I can share some scans :)

What a nutty coincidence. I saw it last week I think.

These are great! With it being so warm here in California, I too have playsuits and swimsuits on my mind. I just finished up a vintage Beach Bra top with matching shorts and have enough fabric leftover that I might need to make a skirt much like the ladies have on in these pictures.

Ooh! That would be so cute! I know what you mean- I have playsuits/swimsuits/shorts on the brain!

Yowza! I am loving these! Especially the little peek-a-boo one piece on the far left. I started to make a 40s inspired swimsuit this spring, but it needs some tweaking and reworking before it’s fully “beach ready”. Seeing these is giving me some incentive to dig it out of my UFO pile! ;)

      Me too! Love that one!
I’d love to see your swimsuit! You are a braver gal than I. I keep *almost* thinking I need to make myself a copy of a vintage one I have, but when it gets down to it it sounds like a pain. Lol!

Ohh! I love M. Lol I just relized why! It has cherries on it!
    Love the matching sandels too.

It’s such a cutie! Wish modern swimwear prints were so cute!
