>Old Fort MacArthur Days- Wearing the striped shirtdress

>Oh my goodness, I can’t believe it’s been so long since I’ve updated! *phew*  Time flies so quickly!
Last weekend was the Old Fort MacArthur Days event- a military and re-enacting timeline that goes from ancient Rome until the Vietnam war.  I hadn’t been to this event in several years, so it was fun to go back and see lots of friends, some of whom we hadn’t seen since the beginning of the year!
I love Fort MacArthur– it’s a worderful museum on the California coast in San Pedro- a wonderful museum that really is the ideal place for history to come alive.  It’s situated high on the cliffs by the ocean so on a clear day the view can’t be beat!  During this event all different reenacting groups from all different periods make their encampments all over the grounds. There’s cowboys, pirates, Romans, Civil War, Revolutionary War, WWII, and so many others.  It’s really quite interesting and shows you just how much there is out there to learn and to be interested in.  A lot of time we get so caught up in our little area of interest we forget about all the other groups out there that are just as passionate! If you like history it can be particularly addicting- looking at all the neat gadgets and talking to everyone about their own particular impression they’re giving of history.
I sadly took very few photos, but I wore my striped shirtwaist dress I just finished to the event and Allison Barcenas, who shot the amazing photos from our last photoshoot took a couple of my outfit.  And I found a pith helmet! Woohoo! I had wanted one forever- I’m such a sucker for adventure gear and I’m slowly getting my “lady adventurer” gear together.  I think all I need to make is an action back jacket and I’m good to go!

Hope everyone is having a fabulous week!

    >Oh, that dress is so cute. I knew it would be! I think I have a weakness for dropped waist 40s patterns.
